Cotton & Linen Care Playbook: Keep Shirts Crisp, Longer
Heat, hard water, and tight drying spaces can wreck natural fibers. Use these four steps to keep cotton and linen pieces fresh for seasons.
Pre-treat sweat spots
Mix 1 teaspoon liquid detergent with 1 teaspoon white vinegar and dab underarms before washing. It dissolves deodorant salts that discolor white tees.
Choose the right wash cycle
Use cold water and a gentle cycle for linen to reduce creasing. Cotton jerseys prefer a short 30°C cycle to preserve shape and color depth.
Drying hierarchy
Lay flat for knits, hang shirts on wide hangers, and avoid direct rooftop sun. Harsh sun bakes fibers and fades deep dyes like ink or forest.
Steam, don’t iron where possible
A handheld steamer relaxes linen creases without crushing the weave. If you iron, do it inside-out on medium heat and finish with a cool pass to lock fibers.
Storage that keeps collars sharp
Button the top two buttons on shirts before hanging so collars dry in shape. Fold tees and stack no higher than eight to prevent shoulder bumps.
